Beach Conditions reports are compiled daily by volunteer Beach Ambassadors working for Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium. The Mote is both a popular tourist attraction and a working scientific facility. Among its many responsibilities are daily, on-site testing of beach conditions around South Florida, including Siesta Key Beach.

The reports generated from these visits offer valuable information about conditions at Siesta Key. That includes wind speed, UV Index, water color, surf conditions, rip current activity, and more. The sections detailing respiratory irritation and dead fish are clues to the red tide conditions at Siesta Key Beach. No dead fish or respiratory irritation means no red tide.

The Siesta Key Beach link at the top of this page includes Crescent Beach, Siesta Key Public Beach. and Turtle Beach, as all three are part of Siesta Key’s barrier island.

Beach Conditions? Amazing!

Crescent Beach, where the Sea Shell is located, is famous for its soft, pristine, white sand that stays cool even on the hottest summer days.

The Mote is just one of the attractions we recommend to our guests as a fascinating, family-friendly activity. It seamlessly blends educational content with interesting displays of hundreds of different fish and other sea creatures. That includes manatees, sharks, and some of the game fish Florida is famous for. A stroll through the main atrium offers a glimpse of a Florida alligator and allows you to enjoy the antics of the three resident Sea Otters.
